Hi Satya,

Thanks for commenting. That certainly sums up the cycle pretty clearly. Some responsibility on our part, and a good perspective on life is required not to fall into the "get-rich-quick" trap.

Excellent article Brian.

Above all it starts from top. People dream of becoming billionaire/millionaire within days. And they drive greedy corporations, which in turn lead to greedy people.

I don't believe any company will remain forever true to the trifecta I described in the post, but I know they are out there... anyone want to risk ridicule by offering up your place of business as the model organization???

Rob,

I see where you are coming from, and I can certainly agree. At my last company there was a small "uprising" because those who had sustained some hard times with the company many years ago were on a level playing field with those who had only been around for a few months.

The company started an incentive program where milestone anniversaries were rewarded with cash bonuses (retroactively). It was very well received, and I thought it was very fair the way they approached the matter.

Mike,

Don't be too hard on yourself. Your post was the last in a string of posts touching on similar subject matter that actually prompted me to write this... I thought it was very well thought out :)

Call me cynical, but these days it seems that most companies could care less if their employees are happy or not. However, if you know of a company that actually adheres to all three of these, I would love to apply for a position...
