Check out our redesign — celebrate with $50 off any DreamHost hosting plan
Back in August, 2007, when I redesigned for the first time, the primary purpose was to get something up that was not a community template. Although the design was my own, I was not completely happy with the final result. Since then I have been tinkering with the design you now see before you. Of course, I have not been working on it consistently. I put it down for three months while I pursued other interests, but very recently picked it back up again.
I am not a designer, but I do enjoy using Illustrator, and I knew what inspiration I would try to draw from for this Wordpress theme. If you are Web designer by trade, then you will probably take notice immediately of similar patterns and trends found elsewhere. The primary source of artwork that I have always wanted to imitate, but never had the talent to do so, comes from Scott Hansen. I enjoy his music, but I mostly enjoy the illustrations he exhibits. Very view designers elicit such a strong emotional response from me personally.
Surely I missed something technical with this theme. If you do notice any bugs, or have comments about my choice of design elements, let me know. I enjoy the feedback. Over the coming months I hope to make several improvements, including a high-contrast version, mobile version, and a reintroduction of Google Adsense… this time in a less obtrusive space. I have also started to compile a list of bookmarks that should be going up on the blog soon, and I will be making minor updates along the way. In case you are wondering, d’bug uses Wordpress v.2.2.3.
In celebration of this launch, I am offering a promotional code that will get you $50 off any DreamHost hosting plan. This is the highest discount I can offer, so you will not find a better deal! The uptime has never been compromised, and the community support is top notch. This promotional code can always be found in the sidebar. You can also support d’bug by buying books at Amazon.com after clicking through to their Web site from the sidebar. Referral fees are not monumental, but they do help us pay for our own hosting.
I hope to hear from you in the future. Happy reading.
